Bad Dog 2: Electric Boogaloo

Posted in Uncategorized by Chris W. on August 6, 2007

Well, well, well… here’s a nice little re-introduction into the blog, as I write the latest developments from the case of Duane “Dog” Chapman, the subject of the first blog I ever wrote.

A few days ago, Mr. Chapman received the news that the charges against him filed by the Mexican government have been dropped. After years of deliberation and uncertainty, Dog Chapman is a free man again, And coincidentally, just in time for the release of his new book. Now, I’m not a conspiracy nut (and I’m certainly more of a believer in Dog than I am in God), but this has to be one of the luckiest weeks of the man’s life. First, he gets the Mexican monkey off his back, and then he goes on Larry King to talk about his new book, which is set to be a best-seller. That’s certainly a better track of life than being in a Mexican prison for four years using the skills honed throughout decades of bounty hunting to fight off the advances of some dude named Pablo Grande. And the television show continues to garner high ratings, so A&E wins as well, as do I, the viewer.

I wonder what made the Mexican government change their minds about prosecuting him? The weirdest thing is that the government of this country threw a lot of support behind Dog and his crew. Could it be that we actually can get something done? Possibly, but only when a treasured reality TV star* is in trouble. If it were Paris Hilton in danger, we probably would’ve seen even faster action, but I’m doubtful if she’d be in any real harm; her dog looks like the dog from the Taco Bell commercials.

I’m really glad that Dog Chapman beat this rap and can get back to what he does best: chase down criminals. While I saw this as being a rather open-and-shut case when the story broke (and the site was just a little screaming infant, rather than the needy toddler it is now), but hey, everybody’s wrong sometimes. Some of us more than others.**

* I realize that Duane Chapman’s primary occupation is a bounty hunter: a job that even I can respect. However, if I put that, the whole joke falls off its already weak support. So cut me some slack, okay?!

** All the people posting on Ain’t It Cool News, I’m talking to you!!!!!!
